SUMMARY:Soft Sculpture: Zaftig Fire Fairy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This is a two-class soft sculpture workshop that will take place on July 18 and 25\, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. \nWhat is soft sculpture? There are many ways to do it\, but as an introduction I will be teaching the techniques of tracing/sewing (on a machine)\, stuffing and decorating a cloth doll made from a commercial pattern. I will also bring several books from my library and photos of some of my creations to show off the world of ‘art dolls.’ Hopefully this will inspire others to pursue this fun art.\nI will bring two sewing machines\, but it would be helpful if participants could bring their own.\nMachines need to only be able to do a small straight stitch. If you have a Singer featherweight….they are perfect! \nParticipants are asked to bring a fat quarter (18 X 22.5″) of fabric and thread to match. Sturdy quilting cotton is fine. The sample is made from synthetic molecloth. I\, wanting to avoid the academic life and poverty\, steered as far from the theater as I could. I am retired from commercial nuclear power\, where I worked as a mechanical engineer. I married my second husband when I was thirty-four. No kids\, lots of animals. SUMMARY:Kamiah Concerts in the Park: Aaron Ball Band
DESCRIPTION:Aaron Ball Band is an international touring and award winning group. Their music is full of passion\, dry wit and storytelling through Americana\, Southern Rock\, and Alternative Country styles. \nThe band\, led by Aaron Ball\, has performed extensively across the USA and internationally\, including tours in Australia\, New Zealand\, Brazil\, Canada\, Mexico\, Japan\, and 14 Caribbean countries with Carnival Cruise Lines. \nThe Aaron Ball Band has garnered numerous accolades over the years. Their song “Omaha” received recognition at the Academia Music Awards in Los Angeles in 2017. In 2023\, the band was inducted into the Academia Hall of Fame. That same year\, Jared Smith was nominated for the Josie Music Award’s Musician of the Year\, and the band received nine nominations from the NW Country Music Award Association. \nAlso since the start\, Aaron Ball Band has been able to perform for  fundraisers and benefits to try and make their community and the world a better place. A few of these include the Idaho Foodbank Music Festival and the American Cancer Society Concerts. \nAaron\, alongside bandmates Dave Bowman on keyboards and Jared Smith on drums\, has built a reputation as a high-energy crowd-pleaser. They have shared the stage with top rock and country artists such as Daughtry\,  Jelly Roll\, Andy Grammer\, Shinedown\, Rob Thomas\, Shane Smith and the Saints\, William Clark Green\, The Wilder Blue\, The Band Perry\, Train\, Sick Puppies\, Them Dirty Roses\, Redferrin\, Great White\, Nick Jonas\, Mat Kearney\, Echosmith\, Granger Smith\, and Smash Mouth. \n  \nPlus art activities and food vendors.
