Learning Acrylic Painting ~ Six Class Series

January 22 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Elements and Principles of Art as We Apply Them to Landscape and Still Life Paintings

Local painter Doug Boomer will guide in this six-class exploration of acrylic painting. The class will take place 10 am to noon Wednesdays, January 22 through February 26. Please make sure you can attend all six sessions. If you need to cancel, let us know at 208-451-3206 so we can offer that space to someone else.

Doug Boomer was born and raised in California.  During his youth he grew up on a farm in the San Joaquin Valley, spending summer vacations camping in the Sierras. When he was about eight years old, he was inspired by an uncle who was oil painting portraits and various scenes.  He was also inspired by many artists he met at various art shows where his two brothers were exhibitors.

In his representational paintings, primarily in acrylics and watercolors, he tries to express the subject he’s painting in such a way that the viewer has an emotional response.  Whether the subject is a figure, a flower, an animal, or a landscape, he attempts to capture the spirit of the subject with light, color, mood, or motion.
