Pearl Maxner grew up knee-deep in a creek behind her childhood home in California in the foothills of Sequoia National Park and is delighted to have come full circle, finding herself once more living on the banks of a creek in Idaho County. This amazing creation never ceases to astound her and she spends time photographing, sketching, and painting the beauty.
She has worked as a fire lookout in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, a lifeguard, a trail guide for a state park, a folk singer in a restaurant, motel maid, swim instructor, elementary school teacher in Hawaii and Oregon, organic farmer in Hawaii, and as a writer and illustrator of children’s books and other publications. She currently gives watercolor seminars at the Monastery of St. Gertrude in Cottonwood. Friends and family are paramount in her life. Still an avid gardener, she would rather have her hands in the dirt than just about anywhere else. She feels very blessed indeed to have experienced so much of the good this life has to offer.
